The CNY 2016 Edit

By  |

One thing we love about living in Malaysia is that there’s always a celebration! It felt like it was just yesterday that we celebrated Christmas, enjoyed the long holiday, ushered in 2016 and now we’re a month away from Chinese New Year 2016

We love Chinese New Year because it means shopping for lots of reds, yellows and a brand new wardrobe. It’s also a great time to be wearing traditional wear and embrace the cultural heritage and beautiful oriental designs. We’ve picked some of our favourites from the web and we hope you love them as much as we do:

For all year long

If you’re looking for a piece to invest in for the whole year, we recommend this piece by Dorothy Perkins. It’s great for Chinese New Year and also for work. Plus, it isn’t very often we find a great work piece in this colour, am I right?

Skater dresses are a godsend – they look great on any girl and with the addition of functional pockets – we’re sold! What more when they come in this gorgeous shade of burgundy, we just got to own a piece (or two!)

Who says you gotta wear a dress for Chinese New Year? Go modern, opt for a pantsuit instead! It’s super practical especially when you’re travelling to visit relatives and it leaves you plenty of room to accessorize and define your style

Separate Pieces

Prefer to mix and match them on your own? Then you got to have a piece of this flare organza skirt! Perfect for matching basics by adding a strong pop of colour that will get you going from day to night

Add a dramatic flair with an oversized bow blouse. It transforms your outfit in a simple way and you’d have a ton of fun creating different outfits with this piece, be it formal or casual

If you need to just stick to the colour theme but prefer something for your own comfort, we’d recommend this top. It’s no-nonsense chic, great for styling with different pieces from your wardrobe and it’s also on sale. Woot!

Would you rather bling it up for the celebrations instead? We got you covered too, complete with diamante and peplum just for this festive season. After all, your outfit should be celebrating as much as you too, no? Tee-hee

Going Oriental

Sometimes a fabric can make or break an outfit. We always love a piece in jacquard because it created such a beautiful silhouette that there’s little you need to add on to make it work. Plus point – we love how the mandarin collar make it the perfect piece for Chinese New Year

Such beautiful details on this one, making it a classy piece. We can definitely see ourselves wearing this for formal events and dinners. Go red or go home with this one!

Lovers of lace – rejoice! Available in four different colours and also available in sizes, this is what you and your sisters (maybe even cousins!) have been looking for to take that beautiful family portrait together. Hurry, while stocks last

What we love about her designs are that they are fresh, every year for every season! This is our favourite from the collection and can already imagine the compliments we’d be getting for this piece *winks*

It’s not very often we find a piece with sleeves and a mandarin collar on a maxi dress but this totally works for us! It’s also super figure flattering and keeping it simple and modest. Thumbs up!

Take a break from the reds and indulge in this yellow (ang!) classic cheongsam. Definitely a first day type of outfit we’d say. We foresee many nod of approvals your way

What would you be wearing this Chinese New Year? Better place that online order to make sure your wardrobe is ready before it’s too late!
