Review: SC Society

A while ago I came across a personal stylist subscription box that sends you personalized pieces picked just for you on a monthly basis. I’ve read all about these before being offered in other countries but it’s a first for me in Malaysia! Without must hesitation, I signed up (because the shopaholic in my couldn’t resist!)

Upon signing up, you’ll be required to go through a short online survey to describe your personal style and once completed, you’ll also receive an email and later a phone call from your personal stylist to understand you better

What I like about it is that it’s a very personal service. They personally deliver the box of selected pieces to your doorstep, by hand, so you don’t have to worry about things like courier fees when sending back the items you don’t want to keep. They also call before hand to make sure you’re available to collect your box during the allocated time and day and likewise when the items are returned

Although three days to try, decide and photograph the items was a bit short for me (because I was out of office a lot, boo!) but it was a decent period of time to go through the number of items that was sent to me

Everything fits nicely in a box like this

Shoes and accessories are individually wrapped and there are wrappers that separates those from the clothes. You’ll also receive a simple style guide to pair the items and behind, a personal note from your personal stylist

I selected minimal and modest, because I’m very much a grey, black and white type of dresser. Pretty boring, I know but I do however care a lot about the quality because I have very sensitive skin. Along with the items is also a list of all the products and their price

The more items you choose to keep, the more discounts you’ll enjoy. Be sure to tick the items you’ve decided to keep before sending back the list and the remaining items

So here’s what my stylist chose for me:

A total of 3 different types of dresses, 1 kimono, 1 top, a pair of pants, a pair of shoes, 1 pair of earrings and 1 necklace. For a clearer picture of the items, here are the photos from their online catalog:

Unfortunately I couldn’t find photos online of the top, pants and earrings so I guess those must have sold out

To be honest, the price for each item was a little more than I expected for the type of quality but these are overseas brands so that could have explained why. I would also have likes for the accessories to be packed in a box versus wrapped in a wrapper because it could break

Nevertheless, I was pretty happy that my stylist gave me a mix of styles to choose and that I can try it out at the comfort of my own home to see if I’d like to adopt the selected piece into my wardrobe. Fit for the items was surprisingly on point too

It was a fun experience trying out the different pieces and in the end, I settled for the kimono and earrings. And sure enough, 3 days later I received a call and arranged for a pickup time from SC Society. Very convenient!

In hindsight, I should have chosen an entirely different style from my own just to experiment but hey, I could try it out for next month, no?

What about you? Would you try out a personalised subscription style box?
