Review: Fiqs Foldable Footwear

By  |

I love high heels as much as the next girl but most often than not, I’d choose to wear something else because I can’t stand very long in them. At the end of the first hour, you’ll probably find me leaning against the wall at an event or hopping from foot to foot without looking too awkward. Oops..

The moment I reach my car, I would have removed them immediately and swapped them for a pair of flip flops. Ahh.. bliss

That being said, flip flops are not the best choice for sore feet and they’re also likely not to match what you’re wearing for the day. Thankfully, there are other options to protect our feet, soothe sore feet and keep us on our feet for hours to come

And this wonder is none other than Fiqs

Fiqs is designed by Fiqa Liyana Chong, entrepreneur and TVC talent who loves heels and came up with the genius idea of lightweight, foldable quality shoes that you can bring in your bag for any event or trip

They’re beautifully packaged (making it an ideal present!), comes in a handy pouch for you to fit easily in your bag

This pouch also easily transforms in a tote for you to keep your heels among other things when you’re ready to change your footwear, making it a practical packaging in itself. Brilliant!

It’s also advisable to buy one size bigger than your usual to ensure the best fit. I’m usually a size 5 so Fiqa advised me to get a size 6 instead and indeed, it fits perfectly! I love the vibrant colours and I chose for myself a pair of green lean and neon pink, tee-hee

Psst, some of them even glows in the dark! Imagine partying with those!

I was really impressed by this neat idea and decided to find out more about the story behind Fiqs. Here’s what Fiqa has to share:

When did you first became interested in shoes/footwear?
Ever since when I was 4/5 years old. I remember putting on shoes that matches my outfit and love every pair of shoes that my parents bought for me. I even put on my mom’s high heels and walk around the house because I absolutely love high heels!

What was your first pair of shoes and where was it from?
I don’t think I can remember my first pair of shoes. But if you’re talking about the first pair of shoes I bought for myself, when I was 14 years old from Vincci. It was a 3 inches black strap high heel. And from there the height of my high heel kept increasing!

What are your personal favourite shoe brands?
My personal favourite shoe brands would be Aldo, Christian Louboutin and YSL

What inspired you to design your own line of shoes and why?
Simply because I’m crazy over shoes. I love wearing high heels but it can be a pain walking in it after a period of time, especially when I’m overseas. I used to carry slippers in my handbag. Not only it was inconvenient, I don’t look presentable when I swap to slippers. So then I thought, why not create my own foldable shoe? And I did it. My consumers will experience the best product because I am a FIQS user as well.

How has the response been so far for FIQS shoes in Malaysia?
The response for FIQS shoes in Malaysia was surprisingly great! We still need to reach out to the ladies out there who have not heard of FIQS and its functions.

What can we expect more from FIQS in 2015?
We are working on something really exciting and hopefully you’ll see it around by end of this year.

We love the vibrant colours that you have in your current collection, will we be seeing any prints/textures etc for future designs?
Oh yes definitely! We will have more variety of colours and prints!

We understand that all FIQS shoes are made entirely out of leather, can you suggest the best way to care for them?
Leather shoes are wonderful and easy to care. In most cases it is enough to just use a soft damp cloth to get rid of any dirt. If the stains are more stubborn and water just isn’t doing the job, you can use special leather cleaning products. More detailed on how to care for your favorite leather shoes will be here. 🙂

What’s your parting advice to aspiring entrepreneurs in Malaysia?
When starting your own business, the most difficult thing to deal with is the emotional rollercoaster. There are so many things to be happy and worried about, and if are affected by these emotions you can’t really be focused or productive. Stay positive, focus and persistent. The most important thing is you gotta enjoy what you do to keep you excited. Then everything will fall into place.

Thank you so much Fiqa for sharing your story with us and creating this line of comfortable shoes! Find out more about Fiqs and get yourself a pair at http://www.fiqs.co/
