My RM25,000 klia2 Shopping Spree

By  |

So you’ve probably heard about the klia2 – What’s in Your Bag? game where each player gets a RM5,000 credit in their virtual shopping bag and each day, one lucky winner will be selected and they get to take home every single item they’ve put into their virtual shopping bag. I first read about this via Cheesie’s blog

And I thought, why not try it out?

I didn’t spent as close to RM5,000 as the other players and I didn’t give it much thought because I seldom join contests like these as I’ve never had any luck with any of them before, like ever. So I played the game, submitted the items for my virtual shopping bag and forgot all about it. That was, till I received a call from KLIA

The representative informed me that I was shortlisted for the grand prize winner and asked if I was able to attend the prize giving ceremony. In my mind I had a vision where I had to race against other finalists on the event day before one of us would win the grand prize. Since the prize was so enticing (RM25,000 to shop?!?!), I agreed

Only to be bombarded by friends’ messages across all different channels a couple of hours later when this was posted up on Facebook:

For the first couple of minutes, I didn’t know how to respond. Was it really me? Could it have been someone else with the same name? Then I remembered the call earlier and then it dawned on me that I won!! This is the first time I’ve ever won any contest and the grand prize, what a tremendous blessing!

From organizing shopping sprees such as Clothes Buffet and Blowout Sales to participating in a shopping spree, this was indeed a shopping experience of a lifetime. I’ve never spent so much money on shopping before let alone spend it all in a day!

So I did a little homework the night before and familiarize myself with the list of shops in KLIA2 and made a mental list of all the “must-visit” shops for the shopping spree. After 6 hours of shopping at the entire KLIA2 (yes, we walked from one end to the other), I managed to spend RM25,000 and here’s what I got from my shopping haul:

First order of business, get luggages to carry all the shopping haul: Medium and cabin size luggages via Barry Smith

Next stop: Gadgets! As I was in need of a new laptop and phone: Macbook Pro, iPad air and iPad cable via Machines. HTC One (M8), iPhone 5S Black (not in photo) and Silver via Connect

Michael by Michael Kors Red Selma Tote via Michael Kors

Bag, flats and heels via Charles & Keith

4 pairs of very comfortable flats via Tiamo

Books from WHSmith. A couple of the books were also priced cheaper than local bookstores, making it an absolute bargain!

A trip to the pharmacy, Mylife Healthcare for some essentials: 3 toothbrushes, 4 tubes of toothpase, Simple facial cleansing wipes, Ellips hair vitamin, 6 bottles of Cetaphil mositurizing lotion and cleanser for my very sensitive skin

3 tubs of The Body Shop Honeymania body butter

Also from Mylife Healthcare: 2 bottles of L’Oréal gentle make up remove, Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Lip Moisturizer, 2 bottles of Bioré UV Perfect Block Milk, L’Oréal Superliner Perfect Slim Black Intense, Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner

This was my favourite part and where I got most of my shopping haul: The Flying Emporium where I got myself a whole new skin care set from Clinique

Perfume from Calvin Klein, Gucci and Dolce & Gabbana (D&G The One not in the photo)

2 tubes of L’Occitane Hand Cream and a tub of organic shea butter, YSL lipstick and lipgloss and Laneige Snow BB Soothing Cushion SPF 50+ PA+++

Ok, my most favourite part was the Chanel counter where I got Chanel No.5, 2 bottles of Coco Mademoiselle, Chanel Noir, Chanel mascara and Chanel UV sunscreen

And to top it all off, I also received a number of samples from the brands I purchased and I love miniature perfume bottles!

Clinique also provided many travel sized samples for me to check out and they all came in a handy travel pouch

I can’t thank KLIA2 enough for the opportunity and also realizing a shopaholic’s dream of a shopping spree! I was also super impressed in what KLIA2 has to offer in terms of shopping and there are many more shops due to open so if you’re departing from KLIA2, be sure to spend some time exploring the shops

P.S. They’re running another campaign and will be sending 4 people to Australia, you could be the next winner! Find out more here

Thank you! I got it from Flying Emporium in KLIA2, they have most of the YSL cosmetics range and according to the map, it’s in the Domestic Arrival hall 🙂
