Mid-Week Fashion Inspiration: Leather Skirts
Last week, I was on a mission to get a friend a birthday gift. Feeling clueless, I started browsing and doing a little window shopping during lunch time when I spotted a pleather skirt, and another, and another. Whether it’s real leather, faux leather or pleather, there was at least one in every store I went into. Some very fancy, some plain and classic. Some short, some long.
Gone were the days where leather was a no-no in decent society; where the thought of leather jackets and leather skirts were only for biker chicks or those in the ‘bad rebel’ category. Celebrities, fashion bloggers and fashion stylists have opened our eyes to a new world out there.
Here are some looks to get you started:
How to Style Leather Skirts?
Knee length skirts are always decent yet ooze a sense of old-skool feminism. Pair it with lace or an shiny red tee top

Flared skirts are always fun and flirty. Faux leather gives an added structure to the flare and is perfect for a casual fun look

A mini skirt is young and sexy. But a mini pleather skirt takes this look up a notched of maturity. Pair it with a structured jacket, a floral chiffon shirt, or tie a plaid shirt around your waist for that edgy look

And if you’re daring enough, pair it with another leather piece. Tone down an all-black outfit with girly pink pieces, an oversized jacket and a beanie or flowy draped top to offset the rebel look

Polish up the leather look with quilted leather pieces. Pair them with casual pieces for the perfect weekend look

Or if you’re already have a simple leather skirt in your wardrobe, it’s time to take the next step and get another one with frills & fringe, with fun elements to it like gold zippers slit or even one in a different colour

And my favourite type of leather skirt is more subtle, with a leather trim. It’s super stylish and lets you play around with different materials and designs
