Louis Vuitton Cruise 2015
Louis Vuitton took Cruise to Monaco. The Cruise collection, was the second season under the direction of Nicolas Ghesquière after the first debut in March.
It was sharp, glossy and modern as we expect from Ghesquière, but he seemed to be having quite a good deal of fun in this collection, every piece that he created was significantly more playful and embellished compared with his first debut. The purposefully jarring colourways -deep pink was paired with baby pink, and caution orange with yellow and sea blue. The designer called it “a game of colors.”
It’s also the styling and subtle nuances that turn these clothes into something so covetable; like the short stiff A-line skirts, the belts nipped in at the waist for a more defined silhouette, fit-and-flare shaped dresses, high-waisted leg-elongating pants.
Emphasis on details like embroidered slips with scalloped hems, aquatic motifs extended to the clothes, printed top was decorated with cutout portholes, collaging mismatched prints, embroidering lace with tiny seed beads.
And of course there were accessories to covet. The spiky silver belts and gladiator sandal-boots that inched up toward the knees. For the handbag offering, the Petite Malle now comes with a chain handle, and he’s added a new, wide-mouthed bucket bag.
With looks like these walking down the runway, there are many ways we can re-create them for our daily outfits in tropical Malaysia. What an inspiring spread of designs!
