Dior Cruise 2015: The Collection

By  |

Raf Simons and the house of Dior exhibited their cruise collection in Brooklyn this time. Another fashion history was made. The collection is a tribute to Paris and New York City, the combination of the gentle serenity and the vibrant pulse of the two cities. The designer wanted to strike a bridge between the two cities and said that America is always a continuing source of inspiring for him

This was a smart, lively and beautiful collection from the designer. We love how the ultra-high-waisted lean trousers and knee-length flared skirts portrays the feminine lady

Simons incorporated the silk scarf into the collection to create the more fluid, softer and breezier silhouette without sacrificing the clean and modern look, which is commonly identified as Simons’ signature style

The use of elements like graphic, abstract prints, boxy and geometric silhouette could be seen in this collection and the technique of draping and layering – made it fresh and modern. The sequins, embroidered flowers and stripes were boldly juxtaposed in a cocktail dress. The masculine tailoring and a pop of color emphasized the modern women with a sense of freedom. The sport sandal with scarf straps gave a feel of fresh attitude to the silk evening skirts. Check out our favourites pieces from the collection:

And if I had to narrow down my personal favourites from the lot, I’d pick these:
