4 Important Daily Skin Tips & Tricks

By  |

Sometimes the weather or being stressed or busy can leave our skin feeling rough, scaly, and unhealthy. There is nothing more frustrating than having skin that feels unnatural and less than perfect. The most important thing you can do is to try out different products and see which ones are right for you, because every day is a good day to start repairing and protecting your skin. These tips and tricks can help you no matter the season, because skin care is essential 365 days a year

1. Exfoliate

The first step in any healthy skin regimen is to exfoliate. If your skin is feeling a little dry and irritated from the cold winter, you want to make sure you still use an exfoliant, but don’t over do it, because it could do more harm than good. Finding a gentle cleanser that can clear away impurities while not drying out your skin too much will be the perfect balance your skin needs in order to bring back your skin’s healthy glow just in time for spring. In order to get that glow you want, you have to clear away the dead skin cells and repair the damaged areas

2. Hydration

For your entire body, it is of the utmost importance to stay hydrated. If you are staying generally healthy, your skin will reflect that natural glow. Drinking lots of water is absolutely essential – and staying away from processed foods and getting in some exercise will show a huge difference in the appearance of your skin. Getting a decent amount of sleep won’t hurt either. Other than that, its always good to hydrate your skin with a body lotion, which will help you glow and have softer skin all over. With your face, you can hydrate with a non oily moisturizer that protects from the sun. Even if you are young, an anti-aging cream can get deep into your pores and repair any long term damage, and return your glow even faster. Hydration is also important for your lips, so it’s important to re-apply a lip balm with SPF throughout the day whenever your lips are starting to feel dry or damage

3. Make Up

One of the main things our skin comes in contact with every day is makeup. If not applied and removed properly, it can damage or leave impurities behind (causing all sorts of problems like acne). Just washing your face can leave behind dirt and hard to get parts of makeup like mascara or eye liner. In order to really remove everything from your skin, it’s best to get a makeup remover. The most popular would be make up removing wipes, which can be purchased at your local drugstore or cosmetics counter

Another important tip is to keep your makeup brushes clean. Residue left behind from old makeup can irritate your eyes and skin, and be unhealthy all around. If you see any makeup left behind on your brushes, it is best to soak them in a makeup removing liquid (Lancome has a great one!) and rinse with warm water and let dry overnight. If the makeup is not visible, it’s best to clean your makeup brushes every couple of months, so stay on top of it!

The same goes with the amount of time you’ve had your makeup. If you can’t remember when you bought it, it’s probably time to replace it! With most make up products, it’s easy to determine when the product needs to go. Your mascara runs out, your eyeliner is shorter than your fingernail, etc. But if you have a product that looks dull and has been sitting at the bottom of your makeup bag, do your skin a favor and throw it out! Fresh products are the best way to keep your skin fresh

4. Plan Ahead

Do you want to have flawless skin? These things take time, so the most important thing you can do is to organize yourself and get into healthy routines. Start exercising to release endorphins – pick a regimen and stick to it. The same is with your skin – find a skin care system that is right for you and stick to it every morning and every night… Don’t rush, decide what you really want, and plan accordingly

No day is too soon to start taking care of your skin, so make sure you give yourself enough time to achieve your long term goals of getting that flawless skin. You don’t have to be unhappy with the look or feel of your skin any longer, as long as you take control and take care of it!
